Position Summary:

You will lead a 100+ person team, reduce turnover, develop local talent, build our culture through recruitment and training to make CBC an employer of choice. You will be responsible for encouraging Bermudians to join the industry, you will hold open days and engage with local schools. You will be highly organized, detail orientated, able to multi-task with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. You will work closely with department heads to spearhead successful recruitment, retention and on-going training of the team. You will manage team benefit expansion, recognition programs, greater community involvement and handbook development.

Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment process: Work with Department heads to identify need for position, Job Descriptions, Advertising
  • Manage entire Talent plus process
  • Administer the selection process, including Drug Testing, Police Reports and Reference Checks; Statements of employment and uniform distribution
  • Work along with Training Manager for New Hire Orientation and Department Heads for departmental orientation
  • Manage performance appraisals during probationary period with department heads
  • Organize Season Recruitment initiatives such as job fair, newspaper advertisements, Bermuda Job Board and CBC Website etc.
  • Orchestrate and develop Colleague Appreciation Events such as birthday cards and cake, luncheons etc.
  • Manage and promote 'Coral Dollar' program for team recognition
  • Manage Staff Notice Boards for information
  • Manage Employee Assistance Program
  • Keep the 'Colleague Handbook' current, update when needed and ensure signatures are obtained for all changes
  • Enhance and manage all Colleague benefits
  • Conduct Wage analyses
  • Manage Colleague Attendance along with department heads
  • Manage colleague disciplinary process with department heads
  • Impartially mediate dispute resolutions
  • Co-ordinate with Training Manager for monthly training programs
  • Attend Daily Stand-up Meeting and weekly Manager's meeting
  • Create annual budget for Human Resources
  • Create and Manage all reports required by Government
  • Manage Work Permit Process
  • Stay current with all government policies regarding employment
  • Manage accident reporting and reporting of food borne illnesses to government
  • Participates in the 'Manager on Duty' Program
  • Represent the Club in any Department of Labor disputes or tribunals
  • Modernize record keeping and transition to electronic files wherever possible
  • Communicate with staff on a group Whatsapp message forum
  • Conduct audits on employee files for compliance with employment laws
  • Manage Colleague termination process, documentation and uniform retrieval
  • Performs other duties as assigned, requested or deemed necessary by the General Manager

  • Must be competent with Microsoft Office Suite and general computer-based technology

Education and/or Experience:

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of local employment laws and best practice, including work permit applications
  • Intimate knowledge of government reporting compliance
  • Familiar with hiring and termination procedures for recruitment and termination of local, overseas, hourly and executives
  • Experience with Work Force Development, tribunals and mediation
  • Knowledge of benefit management
  • Finger on the pulse and the climate of the work environment
  • Strong empathy and accountability

Licenses and Special Requirements:


Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. on an occasional basis
  • Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach different floors of the club in a timely manner
  • Requires grasping, writing, typing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability
